R&M Chapter 25: My love will never fail you (Finale)

“Tita Maya, now that you and Daddy are married, what do you want me to call you?” Abigail asked while licking the back of the spoon. She and Maya decided to bake a chocolate mousse cake for Richard for they are planning to surprise him.

Maya carefully placed the baking pan inside the oven. “Hmm, ikaw ang bahala, baby.”

Abigail paused momentarily. “What about Tita-Mommy? Is that all right?”

At that moment, Maya couldn’t help to smile. She hugged Abigail tightly. “Oo naman, baby.” Tears were starting to form in her eyes.

“Oh, Tita-Mommy, why po? Did I say something wrong?” Abigail was worried.

Maya wiped her tears and chuckled a bit. “No, baby.” She paused. “I just want to thank you.”

Abigail’s brows furrowed in confusion. “Ha? Thank you? For what?”

“For accepting me.” Maya’s voice cracked as she spoke.

Abigail rubbed her eyes to prevent tears. “Actually, Tita-Mommy, ako nga po ang dapat mag-thank you at mag-sorry sa inyo ni Daddy. I’m sorry kung naging bad ako before.”

Weeks after Leilani came clean to Richard and Maya, the truth was slowly revealed to Abigail. At first, she was hesitant to accept the reality. Then, she started blaming Maya and Leilani’s boyfriend, Luis, for ruining their family. She also threw tantrums that were hard to control. Richard was all ready giving up but Maya insisted that all Abigail needed was support and understanding. Gone was the usual bubbly and sweet little lady. Maya never failed to reach out to Abigail but it wasn’t really working. It was then after a trip with Raffi when things started to change. She became polite and nice not only to Richard and Maya but also to Leilani and Luis. Abigail’s relationship with Maya and Luis improved gradually. Not long after, she accepted them as her new Tita-Mommy and Tito-Daddy.

“Baby, wala ka namang dapat ihingi ng tawad. Alam ko naman na hindi mo ‘yun sinasadya at nadala ka lang ng emosyon mo.” Maya sat beside Abigail.

No words are enough to describe how Abigail was deeply moved with Maya’s words and affection. “Thank you din po, Tita-Mommy ha? I love you po.”

Maya embraced Abigail. “Love rin kita baby.” Then she stood up to put the dishes in the sink. “Baby, wag na nga tayo mag-drama. Maabutan pa tayo ng daddy mo dito, sabihin tinuturuan pa kitang maging best actress.”

Abigail laughed. “Funny ka talaga Tita-Mommy!” She went to the fridge to get some drinks. “Tita-Mommy, I have a question.”

“What is it baby?” Maya handed two drinking glasses to Abigail.

“Tita-Mommy, what if magka-baby na kayo ni Daddy, baby parin ba ang tawag niyo sa akin?” Abigail innocently asked.

Maya covered her mouth with her fingers upon realizing that she hasn’t had her period yet for almost three weeks. Hala, oo nga pala, hindi pa ako dinadatnan. Naku!

Abigail snapped her fingers to get Maya’s attention. “Tita-Mommy, are you listening?”

“Ah.. Oo naman baby. Ikaw parin ang baby namin…” Maya let out a weak smile as she was feeling nervous about getting pregnant.

Richard and Maya quietly left Abigail’s bedroom after reading her a bedtime story and tucking her in to bed. Richard naughtily tickled Maya’s waist on their way to the master’s bedroom. With his husky voice, he commented, “Ang bango naman ng asawa ko.”

Maya elbowed Richard while she was opening the door. “Ano ka ba Mr. Lim! ‘Wag kang maingay.”

“Eh tulog naman na si Abigail.” He countered.

“Sssh!” Maya signaled him to stop. She went to the bathroom vanity to comb her hair.

Richard followed her and stood behind her. “Mrs. Lim, parang ang init ata ng ulo mo nitong mga nakaraang araw. Is it the time of the month? Hindi ba tayo pwede ngayon?”

Maya sighed. “Mr. Lim.” She paused and faced him. “Yun na nga eh…”

Richard shrugged and thought Maya was on her period. “Ok lang, Mrs. Lim. Three days lang naman, di ba?”

“Hindi sweetheart. Hindi three days lang. Walang ganun.” She placed her hands on his shoulders.

“Ha? Anong walang ganun?” Richard was puzzled.

Maya didn’t know how to tell it to Richard. “Ano, kasi… Ano…”

“Ano, ano, ano… Puro tayo ano… Eh hindi nga tayo pwede mag-ano… So paano?” Richard tried to make a joke out of Maya’s words.

“Buntis ata ako.” There she said it.

Richard’s mouth was wide open but there was no sound coming out. He was literally in that state for a minute. Maya got irritated so she slapped Richard’s arm. “Ano! Wala ka manlang sasabihin! Sabi ko, feeling ko, buntis ata ako!”

Richard grinned widely. “YES!” He shouted.

“Ano ka ba, sabi ko, baka buntis pa lang. Wala pa naman akong sinabing confirmed.” Maya went out of the bathroom and climbed to the bed.

“Ganoon na rin ‘yun.” Richard winked.

“Anong ganoon na rin ‘yun? Sweetheart, pwedeng huwag muna tayong mag-expect? Kasi di pa naman tayo sure eh.” said Maya.

“Okay.” Richard plainly replied.

“Naiinis ako ha! Ba’t ganyan ka?” Maya threw the heart shaped pillow on Richard’s face. “Naiinis ako! Alam mo ba ‘yon?”

Richard pressed his lips against Maya while he firmly wrapped his arms around her. He sensed that Maya liked what he did so he deepened the kiss. They pulled back moments after as they catch their breath.

“Bakit ka tumatawa?” said Maya, still feeling annoyed.

“Kasi ako…” He paused before turning the lampshade off. “Sobrang sure na ako. There is a bun in the oven.”

Maya gave birth to the twins four years ago, which brought extreme joy not only to the whole Lim household but to the couple’s fans as well. At a very young age, Sky and Sunshine appeared in numerous television commercials. They endorsed diapers, milk, shoes, clothes, toothpaste, cologne – name it!

“Sky, Sunshine, dito lang kayo…” Abigail was starting to feel tired looking after her siblings. “I’m so tired!”

“Ate Abby, play tayo… Let’s run!” Sky enthusiastically tugged Abigail along with him.

“No, Sky! Ate will stay with me!” retorted Sunshine. She wanted to play dolls with Abigail.

“Nooooo!!!!” Sky shouted which called Doris’ attention. “I said, she will run with me!”

Sunshine shouted much louder than Sky. “NOOOOOOO!!!”

“Ayy, Sky, Sunshine, no fighting ha…” Doris tried to stop the twins.

“Ate Doris kasi eh! Sky won’t let me play with Ate!” Sunshine pouted.

“Ah eh, Ate Abby, kanino mo ba gusto makipag-laro?” Doris turned to Abigail.

“Sige, ganito nalang. I will run with you Sky, pero isang ikot lang sa house ha? Tapos I’ll play with Sunshine na. Kasi kanina pa tayo nagtatakbuhan. Is it okay with you?” Abigail tried to explain things calmly.

“Okay.” Sky and Sunshine said in unison.

“Very good!” Abigail was pleased that her siblings finally agreed.

Richard and Maya arrived at home without the kids noticing. The lovingly glanced at their children. Richard placed his arms on Maya’s shoulders while the latter placed her hands on his chest.

“Nakakatuwa silang pagmasdan, ano, sweetheart?” remarked Maya.

Richard lovingly looked at her. “Sobra. I never knew that I could be more happier, my love. Thank you for helping me make this possible.” He kissed her temple.

“Oo naman. We’re partners, di ba?” Maya paused for a while. “Sweetheart, kahit ba pinag-bubuntis ko sina Sky and Sunshine noon, love mo parin ang itsura ko?”

“Ba’t mo naman natanong yan?” Richard held her closer.

“Eh kasi, wala lang. Naalala ko lang. Ang laki ko nuon. Sobra. Feeling ko ang pangit-pangit ko.” said Maya.

“Sinong nagsabing pangit ka?” Richard faced her. “Maya, you are beautiful. You are the most gorgeous woman in my eyes. Well, ako nga, dapat akong mag-thank you sa’yo. Thank you for loving me and Abigail. Kahit na ang dami kong excess baggage, you loved me for who I am and not because of what I have.”

Maya gave him a peck on the lips. “Madali ka lang naman kasing mahalin. At kung iisa-isahin ko kung bakit kita mahal, lifetime is never enough to tell it all. Thank you rin sa pagmamahal mo sa akin. From what I see, I can say that I am fulfilling my duties as a wife and mother correctly.”

Richard replied, “Yes, sweetheart. Our love will never fail and I am sure that it will last even after eternity.”
