Maya woke up around 12:30 in the afternoon with an excruciating headache which was caused by her drinking last night. The aromatic smell from the kitchen forced Maya to get up and have lunch. While holding her head, she made her way down to the dining area.

“Good morning, Ma’am Maya. Ipaghahain ko na po kayo.” Manang Fely, her loyal cook of almost 15 years said with a smile on her face.

“Hi Manang. Good morning po. Salamat!” Maya replied.

Manang Fely placed the food on the table. She cooked pritong tilapia and pinakbet which was one of Maya’s favourite food combinations. Then the old lady turned to Maya to ask her, “Nakatulog ba kayo ng mahimbing?”

“Opo Manang, kaya lang, masakit talaga ang ulo ko. Hindi ko na talaga uulitin ‘yun.” Maya responded while putting food on her plate.

“Siya nga po pala, tumawag si Sir Emman kanina, hindi niyo daw sinasagot ang cellphone ninyo. Pinapasabi niya na dadalaw daw siya mamaya.”  Manang Fely can’t help but to worry about Maya being quite tipsy last night. She was pleased that Richard Lim, her favourite actor, was able to take Maya home.

“Ah, talaga Manang? Eh parang hindi naman nag-ri-ring ang phone ko? Siguro sobrang tulog na tulog lang ako kanina kaya hindi ko napansin. Sige po Manang, salamat. Kumain na rin po kayo.” Maya told the old lady.

“Tapos na ako kanina pa. Pati si Lem, pinakain ko na rin. Sige duon muna ako sa garden, tawagin mo nalang ako kung may kailangan ka.” Manang Fe smiled then went towards the garden.

Moments later, Emman, her best friend since high school, arrived.  “Good afternoon, sleepy head!” Emman walked towards his best friend and kissed her cheeks.

“Hi bes! Pasensya ka na ha, hindi ko nasagot ang tawag mo. Knock-out talaga ako kagabi. Upo ka.” Maya motioned to the seat beside her.

“Hay naku! Magtatampo na nga sana ako eh. I thought you’re ignoring me. Buti nalang pala, I called here sa home phone number ninyo at nalaman ko na you were from Genie’s party. Aba, inabot ka pala ng alas-cuatro ah?! Umuwi ka pa. Sana dun ka nalang natulog.” Emman sarcastically said while enjoying the scrumptious meal.

“Grabe ka sa’kin. Super saya lang kasi nung party ni Genie kaya ganun. Eh eto pa nga, epic fail pa, kasi, nakalimutan kong tawagan si Mang Lem. Buti nalang sinabay ako ni Richard at Raffi.” Maya told Emman while taking a sip of orange juice.

“Nakakaloka! Si Richard Lim at Rafaela Alcantara inuwi ka dito.  Buti hinatid ka. Iba na talaga pag artista. Ayan, lesson learned na ha, huwag mo nang pauuwiin si Mang Lem. Naku, ito talaga, hindi na natuto. Mamaya kung ano pang mangyari sayo pag uma-attend ka ng mga party na ganyan tapos pinauuwi mo si Mang Lem. Aba, kaya mo nga siya naging driver ‘di ba? Ikaw talaga, Madelene! Isusumbong kita sa Mama mo.” Emman warned her.

“Hindi na talaga promise. Last na ‘to.” Maya raised her right arm as if she was reciting Panatang Makabayan

“Kaloka ‘to. Mas maloloka ka siguro kung nakita mo yung phone mo. Hulaan mo kung naka-ilang missed calls ako.” said Emman.

“Ay, nasa taas. Kukunin ko lang.” Maya got up and went upstairs. She entered her room, thinking that she left her phone on the bedside table. Unfortunately, her phone wasn’t there. With her hands under her chin, she stood there for a moment. Then, she guessed that she might have left it in her bag.  “Aha! There you are. I thought I lost you.” Maya said as if she was talking to somebody. Her phone felt weird, though. She opened the black leather casing which also used as a cardholder and pressed the home screen button. To her surprise, she found a picture of a young girl hugging Richard. Maya stared at it for a few seconds, supposing that she might only be dreaming.  Oh my goodness. This is not my phone. Her heart was thumping loudly as if she was going to have a heart attack.

Maya sat on her bed for few minutes. She cannot unlock the phone since it’s password protected. She was hoping that her phone was with Richard. Emman shouted from downstairs asking if she was okay or she already passed out. Maya replied that she was only fixing her things and she will be back as soon as she finished. Messages and missed calls from Abigail kept on appearing on the screen. Maya began to worry. After few minutes, the phone rang and the call was from Liza. Since the name was familiar to her, she quickly answered it.

“Hello, Ms. Maya, this is Liza Atienza. I am Richard Lim’s manager. Good afternoon po.” Liza introduced herself.

“Naku, Ms. Liza! Buti nalang tumawag ka. Muntik na akong magka-mini heart attack nung nakita kong hindi sa akin itong phone. How can I return Richard’s phone?” This was a relief for Maya as she was panicking.

“Ms. Maya, Liza nalang po. Don’t worry about returning the phone. Ako na po ang bahala diyan. I will also return your phone. Nagkapalit ata kayo ni Richard kagabi sa party.” replied Liza.

“Oo nga eh, naku, buti nalang talaga tumawag ka. Eto nga pala yung address…” Maya gave Liza her address.

“Noted, Ms. Maya. I’ll be there siguro mga half an hour.” Liza was making her way out of Richard’s house.

“On the way ka na? Naku. Pasensya na talaga ha? Sige, aantayin na kita sa baba. I’ll see you later. Thank you so much Liza! Paki-sabi na rin kay Richard ha?” apologized Maya.

“No worries, Ms. Maya. Sige po, bye.” Liza ended the call. She was about to step out when Richard stopped her.

“Liza, ako nalang mag-dadala kila Maya.” Richard went towards Liza.

“Ay, sigurado ka? Baka ma-late tayo sa shoot.” Liza reminded Richard that they had to leave his house in two hours.

“Yeah, diyan lang naman yung bahay nila Maya.” Richard pointed at Maya’s house which was located a block away.

Liza was surprised that she wasn’t able to notice the address she wrote down on her agenda notebook. “What? Hindi ko napansin na isang village lang pala kayo! I even wrote her address. Hay naku, I wasn’t focusing enough which means that I didn’t get a good night sleep!”

“Mag-coffee ka muna sa loob Liza. We won’t leave pa naman until tumawag si Sonny. He called my landline to inform na hindi pa daw handa yung venue kasi baka daw bigla tayong dumating.” Richard assured Liza.

“Oh, okay. Thank you Chard. Here’s Maya’s phone. Beep ng beep. Parang madaming tumatawag.” Liza handed Maya’s phone to Richard.

“Thanks Liza. I’ll be back shortly.” Before heading out, Richard first made sure that he was looking fresh and smelling fragrant.

~~~~~
Maya went downstairs to join Emman. She had completely lost her appetite since she was dead worried about her phone. However, she tried to look normal for she does not want Emman to notice and go crazy again about her carelessness.
“Ba’t ang tagal mo? Akala ko nahimatay ka na sa taas.” Emman looked at Maya.
“Ah, ano… Wala. Inayos ko lang yung gamit ko. Ang gulo kasi.” replied Maya.
Few minutes after, the doorbell rang. Maya ran towards the gate and told Manang Fely, “Ako nalang po Manang, tuloy mo nalang po yang ginagawa niyo.”
She was expecting to see Liza, but it was Richard instead. Maya’s knees felt weak because of embarrassment. “Naku, Richard. Grabeng abala na ang ginawa ko sa’yo. Hinatid mo na ako kagabi, tapos eto pa, nagkapalit pa tayo ng cellphone. Sorry talaga.” Maya can’t help but to cover her face.
Richard giggled. He found that gesture cute. “No worries, Maya. Actually, it was my fault by not checking it kaagad.”
“Alam mo Richard, I don’t know how to repay you for all the good things you’ve done to me. Grabe talaga. Thank you ha.” Maya’s hands were clasped as if she was a child asking for forgiveness. “Ay, eto na nga pala yung phone mo. Pasensya na. Tawagan mo na agad si Abigail, baka nag-a-alala na siya.”
“You’re welcome Maya and thank you din. Don’t worry, Abigail would understand. Alam naman niya na if Daddy wasn’t able to answer, it means na busy ako.” Richard replied.
“Eh, hindi ka naman busy. Nagkapalit tayo ng phone eh.” said Maya.
“Anu ka ba, don’t think about it.” Richard smiled at her.
“Oo nga pala, kamusta na si Raffi?” asked Maya.
“She’s fine. Nasa bahay siya ngayon, natutulog nanaman.” Richard answered.
“Oh hayan ha, it means tahimik ang bahay niyo pag tulog si Raffi, wala nang madaldal. Edi hindi na malalaman ng kapitbahay na nandiyan siya.” Maya told Richard in jest.
Richard chuckled. “Parehas lang kayo ni Raffi, makwento. But hey, I had so much fun with you last night.”
Maya’s eyes widened in shock. She couldn’t believe what Richard said. She might have mentioned things that she wasn’t supposed too. At that moment, shame was engulfing her. “Naku, Richard. Pasensya na talaga. Siguro kung nakakapag-patubo lang ng halaman ang kahihiyan, siguro ang lago na ng halaman ko.”
“Hey, Maya, don’t take it negatively. Like what I said, I had so much fun. For the meantime, nakalimutan ko ang stress, and I want to thank you for that. There was no dull moment with you last night.”
“Ayan ka nanaman, binobola mo nanaman ako ha. Pero sige na nga.” said Maya, then she continued, “Papaano ba ako makakabawi sa iyo niyan?”
“No need Maya.” replied Richard.
“Hay naku, kay Raffi na nga lang ako magtatanong.” Maya pouted.
“Ang kulit mo talaga ano? Well, Maya, I’m sorry, I love to talk to you pero, pasensiya na, I have to go. Baka tumawag na kasi si Sonny, yung floor director para sa TV interview ko today.”  said Richard.
“Ay ganoon ba, sige. You better be going. Ingat! Salamat ulit ha? Babawi ako sa’yo. Promise!” Maya hugged Richard.
“I told you it’s nothing. Oh yeah, before I forget, mag-exchange numbers na nga tayo. Para naman kung minsan, kung kailangan kong tumawa eh, itext kita. Hindi naman kasi kitang pwedeng i-tweet kasi, baka kung ano makwento mo.” Richard laughed, but took back what he said, “Hey, joke lang ah! Baka serious ka nanaman diyan.”
“Richard naman eh!” Maya pretended to be annoyed. Then she and Richard exchanged numbers.
“Sige, I have to go. Take care Maya.” Richard replied.
“Ikaw din! Have fun at work!” Maya was about to wave back at Richard when she noticed that he didn’t bring a van or a car with him. She stopped him. “Richard, wala kang sasakyan na dala? Anong ginawa mo? Naglakad ka?”
“Ah, yes. I forgot to tell you na magkapitbahay lang tayo. Good thing nga eh, nasabi mo sa akin na dito ka nakatira before you got tipsy and soon fell asleep inside the van.” answered Richard.
Fell asleep. What? How did I get in my room? Maya questioned herself. She did not want to delay Richard so she sent him off. “Sige Richard, ingat!” Richard waved back at her and she went back inside.
“Sino ‘yun?” Emman asked as soon as she entered the house.
“Ah, wala, president ng homeowner’s association. Nagtatanong lang kung gumagamit daw ako ng facilities sa clubhouse saka kung okay daw ba ako dito.” She lied. She does not want Emman to ask her further since she wasn’t in the mood to answer his interrogations.
“Wow. How nice naman.” Emman stood up and went to the kitchen. He went back with another pitcher of orange juice. “Sorry ha, ang sarap ng luto ni Manang, I love it!”
“Mukha ngang enjoy ka eh.” Maya smiled at Emman, but her mind was completely preoccupied by Richard’s words. I feel asleep in his van. Ano ako, nag-sleep walk papunta sa kwarto? Wala namang bubuhat sa akin… Then her mind went crazy upon realizing that it might be Richard who brought her to the bedroom. Naku, Maya, nakaka-ilan ka na ha? May mukha ka pa bang ihaharap kay Richard?
